The 2014 ISOE Asian ALARA Symposium was held on September 23-25, 2014 in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea, with attendance of 117 individuals from Japan, Republic of Korea, USA, and the ISOE Secretariat.
A total of 19 papers were presented. From Korea, the papers were presented on the radiation management in nuclear power plant accidents and exposure reduction activities in nuclear power plants, radioactive waste management, and spent fuel transport in Korea.
ISOE program and database with dose trends at the nuclear power plants was introduced from ISOE Secretariat.
From Japan, the papers were presented on overview of the Asian Technical Center (ATC) activities, exposure reduction activities in nuclear power plants, and the new operation scheme for the ATC.
Among these presentations, “Decreasing costs and increasing efficiency by reusing lead vests for reduction of waste materials” by Mr. Dong Ki Yun (Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd.(KHNP)) and “Radiation protection management in Fukushima Daiichi NPS and post accident measures” by Mr. Shiro Takahira (Tokyo Electric Power Company) were selected as the Best Presentation Awards.
The awarded papers will be invited to be presented at the 2015 ISOE International ALARA  Symposium in May, 2015 in Brazil.
