The 2009 ISOE Asian ALARA Symposium was held on September 8-9 2009 in Aomori, Japan, with attendance of about 40 individuals from Japan, Korea (Rep.of), and USA.

Among many interesting presentations “Dose Rate Reduction Methods at Shimane Nuclear Power Station” presented by Mr.Tadashi Kanaoka (Chugoku Electric Power Company, Japan) was selected as a distinguished papers. Special award was given for the presentation “Hot Topic Report of Bottom Header Defected, YGN 5 in 2003” by Mr. Youn Young Ho (KHNP), and Technical award was given for presentations by Mr. Akihito UEHIRA and Mr. Tetsuo YOKOYAMA (Sumitomo Metal Indutries, Ltd.).

Mr. Kanaoka and Mr. Youn will be invited to present the paper at the 2010 ISOE International ALARA Symposium in UK.

 Two technical visits to the Higashidori NPP and the Muroran Plant of the Japan Steel Works were held on 10-11 2009 after the symposium.
